Food for healthy gums
Healthy gums are crucial for healthy teeth maintenance. According to the Journal of Periodontology, people who consume less vitamin C are more likely to develop gingivitis (inflammation of the gums). Vitamin C is necessary to maintain healthy gums because it has the antioxidant effect and is crucial in building connective tissue. You should eat sweet red pepper, kiwi, lychee, citrus fruits, cauliflower and potatoes as they are great sources of this vitamin. However, chewable vitamin C is not a good option, because it causes enamel demineralization (erosion). Another important substance preventing gums from disorders is coenzyme Q10. It has a remarkable antioxidant effect and reduces the amount of the harmful radicals in your mouth. Excellent sources of coenzyme Q10 include red meat, sea food, nuts and seeds.
